Activities and Adventures

A Family Affair
Special events for the entire family are scheduled throughout the summer. They include  family barbecues, lively Shabbat dinners, and a farewell presentation. Our detailed event calendars and camp newsletters keep you abreast of all your children’s activities.

Creative Hands / Crafts
Camp Gan Israel’s innovative arts and crafts teach the children to be creative and imaginative. The crafts incorporate various themes in Jewish life as well as fun and useful projects. Campers are sure to proudly look back at the craft of their own hands well after the summer is over. CGI has hired an experienced arts n’ crafts instructor.

Lights, Camera, Action!
Comedy skits, talent shows, and auction days are just a few of the programs that challenge the children to develop their innate talents.

Play ball!
Supervised by our experienced instructors, children develop sportsmanship, confidence, and the ability to enjoy all sports, including baseball, basketball, tennis, football, kickball, creative movement and more.

CGI on the Go Fieldtrips
Gan Israel holds regular "trip days" which include theme parks, nature hiking, ice skating and more. These exciting adventures allow our children to really show their true CGI spirit.

  • For safety, children must wear their C.G.I. shirts on these days.
  • As an extra safety measure campers will receive safety bands with the camp phone number.
  • Hired school busses and drivers are used for field trips. In the event that a small amount of campers need to be transported, a 15 passenger van driven by one of our directors will be used. If your child needs a car or booster seat, please send it in on trip days.
  • Spending money is not necessary on regular trip days, however you may send some on our grand trip days.

Grand Trips (Grades 3 - 8)
Trips to Kings Dominion and Six Flags will leave first thing in the morning and arrive back to camp later in the evening. Please see weekly schedule for arrival times. Parent chaperones are welcome.

Multi Day Trips (Grades 6 - 8)
A general outline of the multi-day trips in each session will be sent to campers on the first day of the session. Campers who choose not to participate have the option to join the rest of camp.

Swimming

The Wetter the Better!
Camp Gan Israel is extremely proud of its swimming program where all activities are supervised by certified Red Cross lifeguards. The children cool off by going swimming daily.

  • Please refer to the parent handbook for the days which your child will be going swimming.
  • All swimming will take place at Camp Gan Israel under the supervision of American Red Cross trained lifeguards and water safety instructors. Campers will alternate between group lessons and free play.
  • Please send the following in a bag marked with your child’s name. Bathing suit , towel, sunscreen and a plastic bag for wet items. Mark individual items as well.
